Italian Landscape Mural Painted on Canvas

A dramatic mural done by artist Mark Romanoski was painted in acrylics on panel after Italian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.  The original painting, "The Sacrifice of Isaac", was created in 1726-1728 and can be seen in the Palazzo Arcivescovile in Udine, Italy.  The painting depicts the biblical account in which an angel stops Abraham from sacrificing his son as commanded by God.  A beam of divine light shines down from the heavens while an angel floats on top of a cloud to stop Abraham's hand.  A ram, seen in lower right hand corner, is to be sacrificed in Isaac's place.
