Faux Finished Dining Room Walls and Tray Ceiling

After purchasing a brand new home, our clients weren't sure what to do with their plain white fireplace mantle.  During the course of marbleizing their columns, the clients asked if there was any way to give the mantle a natural wood effect.  The process began with base painting the mantle in a pale gold color.  We then mixed up various glazes and applied four transparent layers of glaze in stages to build up the natural faux bois (woodgraining) effect.  Below you can see the "before" photo which displays the magnificent transformation.
